Installing epcEdit on Windows
The following steps describe how to install epcEdit on the Microsoft Windows operating system. These instructions apply to the epcEdit package
distributed over the Internet; if you have received epcEdit on a CD-ROM, please refer to the installation instructions on the CD.
Requirements:
- Microsoft Windows 95 or above, or Windows NT 3.51 or above.
- The epcEdit package (epcedit-126-win32.exe) for Microsoft Windows including a binary Tcl/Tk 1.2.6
package.
- Approximately 30 Megabytes of diskspace during the installation.
Upgrading from Release 1.2 or 1.2.x
You can use the upgrade utility of epcEdit to upgrade from release 1.2 or 1.2.x to 1.2.6.
We recommend to use a newer version of the upgrade utility to do so. Please replace the upgrade script C:\Program Files\epcEdit\lib\epcEdit-1.2\upgrade.tcl with this version. You may
then start the upgrade utility by selecting “Upgrade Utility” from the “epcEdit” entry in the start menu.
Installation
epcEdit 1.2.6 is available as a stand-alone version with a complete Tcl/Tk 8.3.4 system and an integrated TkSGML package.
Uninstall any previous epcEdit version
It is highly recommended to uninstall any previous version of epcEdit prior to 1.2 before installing epcEdit 1.2.6. Please use the “Uninstall
epcEdit” entry from epcEdit group of the Windows start menu to uninstall your old version.
Do not uninstall an old version after the installation of epcEdit 1.2.6. Doing so will damage your epcEdit 1.2.6 installation.
Download the required package
Unless you haven't already done so, you'll need to download epcEdit for your system.
After you have downloaded the installation package, you can proceed with the installation by simply double-clicking on the downloaded file.
Spell checker installation
If you have downloaded the aspell spell checker for epcEdit, you will have to unpack the file aspell.zip. It is suggested to use the directory C:\aspell for the spell checker.
