Enhancements and bug fixes for epcEdit are available from the epcEdit web site. epcEdit comes with an upgrade utility that can be used to update components of epcEdit. This utility will compare you current version of epcEdit with update information on the epcEdit web site. If updates for your version of pecEdit are found, the upgrade utility will download and install the required files.
The epcEdit upgrade utility needs to access the internet. It will not send any confidential information such as personal data, your email adresses or even your epcEdit license number over the net, but it will send information about the name of your operating system (e.g. Windows, Linux, or Solaris) and your current version of epcEdit so that the correct files can be selected.
To use the upgrade utility, please follow these steps:
Terminate all running instances of epcEdit.
On a Windows system, select the "Upgrade epcEdit" entry in the epcEdit submenu of the Start menu.
On a Unix system, run the command epcedit -upgrade from a shell prompt. You will need to have write access to the installation directories for the upgrade to succeed.
Follow the instructions thate are given by the upgrade utility.
The upgrade utility will inform you before performing each step of the upgrade process. You may safely terminate the upgrade process by pressing the "No" button in any of these message dialogs.
After the upgrade utility has installed the updated components, it records information about the new state of your versionof epcEdit so that the next invocation of the upgrade utiliyt will only install updates that have been released since your last upgrade of epcEdit.
