Chapter 14. Printing a document

A document can be printed or exported to PDF format. epcEdit will apply the current style-sheet settings when formatting the document and include a printed representation of the markup tags if they are currently turned on. epcEdit will print the complete document or the currently selected portion of the document.

The layout of the printed document will resemble the screen display of epcEdit. The only exception are HTML and CALS tables in the document. These tables will be formated according to the table structure.

On Windows, epcEdit will use the native windows print system for printing the document. On a UNIX or Linux system, epcEdit will export the document to PDF and send the result through an PDF processing application (like Acrobat Reader or GhostScript) for printing.

Follow these steps to print a document:

Printing a document

  1. Make sure that your document is displayed in the same way as you want the printout to appear. Turn tags on if you want markup tags to be shown in the printed document, otherwise turn tags off.

  2. If you want to print only a part of the document, select the desired portion of the document.

  3. Select File->Page Layout from the main menu to define the page dimensions, page orientation, and margins for the printout. Adjust these settings and press the Ok button to dismiss the page layout dialog.

  4. Select File->Print from the main menu. A print dialog appears.The exact form of this dialog depends on your operating system.

  5. Adjust the settings of the print dialog and press the Ok button.

epcEdit will now send your document on the selected printer.
