Chapter 16. epcEdit User Interface Components

This chapter describes the individual parts of epcEdit's user interface and explains the functions of these components.

16.1. The Toolbar

The toolbar, located at the top of the screen just below the main menu, offers quick access to often-used functions in epcEdit.

The individual functions in the toolbar correspond to menu items in the main menu.

 New Document

Creates a new document from a template.

 Open Document

opens an existing document

 Save Document

Saves the currently open document.

Print Document

Prints the currently open document.

 Cut selection

Removes the currently selected region from the document after copying into the clipboard.

 Copy selection

Copies the currently selected region from the document to the clipboard.

 Paste clipboard

Pastes the current content of the clipboard into the document.

 Undo

Reverts the last action (if possible).

 Search

Opens a search dialog for locating text or markup in the document.

 Validate document

Performs a full validation of the current document.

 Split element

Splits the element containing the insertion cursor at the current cursor location.

 Remove element

Removes the element containing the insertion cursor, but leaves the element content in place.

 Delete element

Deletes the element containing the insertion cursor.

 Edit Attributes

Edit the attributes of the element containing the insertion cursor.

 Insert entity

Inserts an entity at the location of the insertion cursor after displaying a dialog for selecting an entity.

 Edit style sheet

Displays a dialog for editing the style sheet.

 Show element tree

Shows the element tree if hidden or hides the element tree if currently shown..

 Show element manager

Shows the element manager (if currently hidden) or hides the element manager if shown.

  Show table editor

Shows the table editor if possible or hides the table editor if currently shown. This button is disabled if the insertion cursor is not in a table structure.

 Help

Displays epcEdit's help system (using an external web browser).
