The main screen of epcEdit is divided into five rectangular regions:
The Toolbar below the main menu provides access to the most commonly used functions of epcEdit.
The document window is the large area at the right side below the toolbar. It contains the content of the current document.
The document tree on the upper left side shows a graphical representation of the document structure.
The element manager on the lower left side allows you to manipulate the document structure by inserting or renaming elements and to modify the attribute values of elements.
The status bar at the bottom of the screen contains information about the current document status.

After a document has been loaded into epcEdit, the document content is shown in the document window, the current document structure is displayed in the document tree window, and the element manager contains a list of elements that may be inserted at the current cursor position.
