10.2. Using templates when opening a document

Templates contain the style sheet settings for a document type. When epcEdit opens a document, it will search the available templates for a template that matches the type of the document that is opened.

If a matching template is found, epcEdit will read the style sheet settings from this template and apply them to the current document.

If more than one matching template is found for the type of the document, epcEdit will display a dialog box (see Figure 3-1) and let you select the template that should be used.

For well-formed XML documents only: All elements and element attributes that were previously declared for the document type in question are stored in the document template. When a well-formed XML document is opened, epcEdit will read the element and attribute declarations from the document template and declare these elements and attributes so that they are again available for insertion.
