4.4. Deleting elements

The element that contains the insertion cursor can be deleted from your document by pressing the Delete Element button in the button bar or by selecting Delete Element from the Element menu.

If you delete an element with the Delete Element button or with the Delete Element menu item, the element and its content are deleted.

To delete an element, follow these steps:

Deleting an element

  1. Place the insertion cursor inside the element in question.

  2. Click on Delete Element button in the button bar or select Delete Element from the Element menu.

  3. The element and its content disappear from the document.

Note: Please note that you can not delete the document element, i.e. the element that encloses the whole document.

Alternatively, you can right-click on one of the tags of the element and choose Delete Element from the context menu.

If you want to keep the content of an element, but remove the start and end tags for this element, you can click on the Remove Element button or select Remove Element from the Element menu.

If you remove an element with the Remove Element button or with the Remove Element menu item, the content of the element is inserted into the parent element of the element that was removed at the location of the removed element.
